Why Colombia
The most bird-diverse country on Earth.
A sanctuary for life unlike any other.
Colombia is not simply a country with many birds.
It is the most bird-diverse nation on Earth.
Nearly 2,000 bird species have been recorded within its borders, more than in any other country on the planet.
But the true magic appears when we look more closely.
At the heart of Colombia lies the Coffee Region, an area globally recognized for its extraordinary biological richness.
Here, Andean mountains, cloud forests, biological corridors, water sources, valleys, and ecosystems that have evolved over thousands of years converge.
The Coffee Region is home to approximately 1,200 bird species.
Risaralda, where much of our work takes place, records nearly 900 species.
This means that a single region can contain more bird diversity than entire countries.
But birds are only the beginning.

These ecosystems also support an extraordinary richness of life:
wild mammals
tropical butterflies
unique amphibians
reptiles
orchids
pollinators
and hundreds of endemic species found nowhere else on Earth.
Very close to several of our territories lies the area of influence of Tatamá National Natural Park, considered by scientists and conservationists to be one of the most biodiverse and best-preserved places in Colombia.
Its forests shelter unique species and ecosystems that still retain much of their natural integrity.
Few places on Earth concentrate so much biodiversity within such a small area.
And few places offer such an extraordinary opportunity to protect life permanently.
When you help create a Nest, you are not only protecting birds.

You are helping protect forests.
Water.
Biological corridors.
Ecological processes.
And thousands of forms of life that depend on these ecosystems for survival.
Each sanctuary becomes a refuge for biodiversity.
A legacy for future generations.
And a genuine contribution to protecting one of the most extraordinary natural treasures on Earth.
There are beautiful places in the world.
There are biodiverse places in the world.
But very few places combine both with the intensity that Colombia still preserves.
